Aruga Top in Pinilian
This variant is currently sold out
Our shoulder top combines style with comfort with sleeves that can be worn off-shoulder, on shoulder and removed as well. Aruga means to take care & nurture - this piece has passed through the hands of multiple artisans that has provided care & livelihood during this quarantine. We hope it serves as a reminder to take care for yourself too.
Our sleeves feature an Indigenous handwoven textile, known as "Pinilian" and is ethically sourced from female artisan weavers from the Sabangan Community in Ilocos Sur. Pinilian is characterized by a skillful brocade weaving technique, where the design creates the appearance that it is floating on the fabric. This Pinilian pattern is described as "karayen ken sinan sarong nga bitwen" which means river and star-like flowers in Ilocano.
